How to Tie a Waist Bow

There are a few tutorials like this out there but people still ask me from time to time what my method is, so here's how I tie the perfect waist bow!
There is also a gif at the end to help ~tie~ it all together.

You're at afternoon tea and suddenly you notice from across the room, the saddest waist bow you've ever seen, floppy, off to one side, completely undone... All your time practicing the perfect bow will not go to waste!

For the sake of this tutorial we'll be tying the waist ties on someone else, so make sure to share this tutorial with your friends so they can have your back and you can have theirs! It's best to start with a pair of waist ties that have been pressed nice and crisp, it will make the final bow extra lovely and full.

Take one side of the waist bow and put it on top of the other then loop it around the other tie. You should end up with one tie that points straight up and another that points slightly down and to the side.
Make sure to keep the outside of the fabric facing away from you for the tie that is pointing downwards.

Next take the tie that is hanging down and create a fold below the side with the tie going upwards. The tail should point towards the side it was previously laying on. This will be one ear for your bow! Pinch the tie into a smaller shape with one of your hands, this will be the center of the bow.

While hold the base of the ear, use your free hand to bring the upper tie over the top then loop around the back of only the ear so that it ends up on top of the ear once more.

Now use your other hand to hold the outside of the ear as the hand that was previously holding the base of the ear goes inside of the loop you just created. Grab the part of the other tie that is hanging down and pull it through the loop.

Continue to pull the loop as it becomes the other ear of the bow. If your loops are uneven try pulling the underside of the ears, this will also tighten the loop in the middle of your bow. Now all you need to do is spend some time gently straightening the bow, fluffing the ears so their sizes match, and you're done!

I made a handy little gif as well!

I hope this helps you create the perfect waist ties for you and your friends!
